Julia Clement is a stand-up comedian based in Auckland New Zealand.
Julia first appeared on stage at the vernal equinox, 2015. At that time she was the only and since then she has been one of the very few male to female transgender stand-up comedians regularly performing in New Zealand.
Julia’s material is heavily influenced by her transgender experience but as a consummate computer geek with side interests in many areas of science and technology she also finds humour in subjects as diverse as the sexuality of fungi and why your computer seems to hate you. Julia is quite happy to customise her material with more or less emphasis on either part.
Some material is deliberately challenging and while designed to make the audience laugh is also intended to hopefully make them think about the issues later.
