On Hiatus

When I started doing this series 9 months ago I said that Joke A Day was to encourage me, not a promise. Despite that I have posted one a day since then.

Stuff’s been happening in my life leaving me exhausted & I find myself needing a short break during which I’ll post updated versions of the early memes. Facebook & Instagram run a couple of weeks behind the series on here so I’ll need to start posting new superheroes / villains here no later than 19 November to not break the series there.

When I’m back I already have the text for Subtext, Captain Obvious, Plasticor & Magneta ready to roll so I just need to create the graphics. There’s about another hundred in draft to fix the text and create the graphics.

DEATHman

Name: DEATHman

Origin: In an attempt to reduce his workload, DEATH comes to Earth and battles people who ignore workplace and road safety rules.

Powers: Catchphrase: Quick Vulture, to the DEATHmobile.

Aims: Lower death rate.

Weaknesses: Contractually forbidden to resurrect clients.

Foes: Simeon Brown

Tornado

Name: Tornado

Origin: Originally a plant ecologist until leaves blown by Leaf Rider during her origin gave her the power to blow back with massive force.

Powers: Creates massive winds that can destroy anything in their path.

Aims: End Leaf Blower’s control of fallen leaves to allow natural composting.

Weaknesses: Can not enter storm cellars.

Foes: Leaf Rider

Name: Leaf Rider

Origin: Autumn Fall was a gardener at Field Marshal Britain‘s power complex until a radioactive leak into a compost heap she was moving with a leaf blower turned her into Leaf Rider.

Powers: Can shrink to the size of a mouse & ride leaves on gentle breezes to silently creep up on villains.

Weaknesses: Strong winds blow her off course.

Foes: Tornado

Madam Sword

Name: Madam Sword

Origin: Once the star sword-swallower, Nicky Sharp was twisted by jealousy when Bubble Lass stole the show. With razor-sharp fingers, she became Madam Sword, the puncture-prone villain out to burst her bubble!

Powers: Pierces anything with her fingers but prefers a sharp sword.

Aims: End bubbles and balloons.

Foes: Bubble Lass

Name: Bubble Lass

Origin: After falling into a vat of experimental bubble solution at the circus, circus performer Betty Bubbles gained the ability to blow indestructible bubbles of all sizes! Now, as Bubble Lass, she traps villains in her bouncy spheres—unless a sudden pop frightens her!

Powers: Blows indestructible bubbles.

Weaknesses: Afraid of popping sounds.

Mug Wrecker

Name: Mug Wrecker

Origin: Mug Wrecker was a clumsy customer who Millie banned from her café after breaking every mug he touched. Fueled by anger and cursed by the same strange customer, Mug Wrecker now gains strength from smashing ceramics and seeks to shatter The Human Mug once and for all.

Powers: Loves smashing mugs.

Aims: Seeks to shatter The Human Mug once and for all.

Origin: Mille Brewster was a barista at the local coffee shop who dreamed of one day owning her own café. While working late one night, a strange customer gave her a cursed coffee mug. After drinking from it, Millie found that she could transform into any object she desired—but only once per day, and for only one hour at a time. Unfortunately, she often gets stuck as a coffee mug! As The Human Mug, she foams up villains and brews justice!

Powers: Can turn into any object, but she’s always stuck as a coffee mug because she can’t remember how to change back.

Weaknesses: Often mistaken for a coffee cup and accidentally sipped from.
