This is a WordPress site that is shared to the Fediverse where the most common software is Mastodon. Mastodon overlays images with Alt & Hide buttons. All of my memes have kept the area covered by these buttons clear. Recently Mastodon has moved them from the left of the image to the right making some of the text unreadable. I am working through editing my memes to keep both the old and new covered areas clear. Hopefully this means they will display correctly on both Mastodon and other Fediverse clients.
Over the time I’ve been publishing the memes I’ve made other changes to the formatting and even, in some cases, switched to different images and tweaked the text. I’ve decided I now sufficiently dislike the early memes that I’m going to delete the memes from before this change & republish them as part of this series.
On a different time-frame, I also post a different version the same memes to Instagram which, until recently, required a square format. Memes made to that format now look really ugly in galleries. I’m applying the same logic to Instagram but not deleting old copies.
In an unrelated change, I have also decided to switch from posting at 6 PM NZT to 6 AM NZT, effective tomorrow, 21/4/25. This is to create a separation between the posting of the memes here and on the other social media, including my mastodon.nz account, I post them to.
